On June 3, 2011, the County of Alameda Board of Supervisors held a Groundbreaking Ceremony to mark the start of construction for the Highland Hospital Acute Tower Replacement Project.
The ceremony started with introductions from President of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, Nate Miley and Vice President, Keith Carson.
The speakers at the ceremony included, County Administrator, Susan S. Muranishi, President of the Alameda County Medical Center Board of Trustees, Daniel J. Boggan, CEO of the Alameda County Medical Center, Wright L. Lassiter, III, and Director of General Services Agency, Aki K. Nakao.
Speakers emphasized the point made by Susan Murnishi, “this project is a symbol of hope, wellness and recovery in this community. It also represents an unprecedented commitment by Alameda County to the health of it’s residents.”
Nate Miley closed the ceremony by stating, “with the prospect of new jobs and by providing state-of-the-art health services, we want to make Highland a hospital of choice that can compete with some of the private hospital facilities in the Bay Area.”
